Thanks to advancements in medicine, nutrition and living conditions, we’re all living longer and the global population is ageing. But how do we ensure that we add quality of life to years, not just years to life?
Director of Minerva, Rhonda Smith moderated a key symposium on the future of EU-funded health research around healthy ageing in Brussels, addressed by a panel of experienced researchers on nutrition, metabalomics and brain ageing.
Attended by health researchers, journalists, EC officials and CommHERE project participants, the symposium provided evidence-based information on this health topic that is high on the research agenda.
Reflecting on the central discussion points and key messages of the symposium, Rhonda said, “Our knowledge about how to age in good health has increased dramatically over the last decade, but there is still a great deal we don’t know. Research funding is essential to maintain that momentum to help us all help ourselves to a healthy later life.”
CommHERE aims to improve communication on the outcome of EU-funded health research projects to the media, general public and other target groups across Europe and beyond. You can find out more at www.commhere.eu.
