“Lots of hints, tips and ideas. Brilliant!”
That was just one of many positive comments received in response to Minerva’s free, strategic communications workshop ‘Making your Voice Heard’, which it delivered in Andover in July, in partnership with Test Valley Community Services (TVCS).
Representatives from a variety of local charities and not-for-profit organisations attended the event, to learn and share ideas about how to communicate more effectively and strategically, to help their organisation stand out from the crowd.
The workshop began with a brief keynote speech from Sir George Young, ex-MP for Hampshire North West, who outlined numerous strategic and practical tips for enabling and encouraging the delegates to engage with their local MP and canvass support.
Practical activities followed, focused on three key, interdependent ‘business’ areas – funding, community and reputation.
Feedback showed 100% of delegates thought the course was well-structured and they had a better understanding of the topic. Comments from the day included: “Great course – very informative and friendly organisation”, “Fantastic for sharing great ideas”, and “Well-presented in a relaxed environment. There were also thanks “for the opportunity to attend and for an interesting event.”
With plenty of interaction, discussion and sharing of experiences, Minerva was delighted that everyone came away from the event having learnt something useful to apply to their roles.
Terry Bishop, Chief Executive of TVCS, said afterwards, “A huge thank you for the workshop. It was really excellent.”
Following the success of the event, Minerva is running a second workshop on Thursday 19th November in Romsey.
