Minerva is proud to be the communication and dissemination lead for the EU funded SustainSahel project. Focusing on the Western Sahel area, the project’s African and European partners are working to improve resilience and sustainable intensification of food production by the integration of Crop, Shrub and Livestock (CSL) management.

Minerva Director, Rhonda Smith, expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “SustainSahel is a very exciting project as there is the potential for actions and results led by local communities to be applied not only across the whole of the Sahel but also across Africa and other areas of the world. The Minerva team looks forward to working with local farming families as well as our experienced and respected partners to make a difference for the smallholder communities by improving their prospects and daily lives.”

SustainSahel is a five-year project which started in Autumn 2020 with 18 organisations from 10 countries and is coordinated by Dr Harun Cicek from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) in Switzerland. Project actions are focused on seven sites across three countries in Western Africa – Mali, Senegal, and Burkina Faso.

To keep up to date with project activities, sign up for the project e-newsletter, and make sure to follow SustainSahel across social channels Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The photographs from the Western Sahel region are stunning.
